From the beginning of the series we established that everyone has a Center Point - a point in their life around which everything else revolves and rotates.
It could be some sort of belief system, some sort of moral code, your family, your job/career, friends, a habit, a hobby, or your own selfish desires.
Throughout the series we made the case that in order for us to experience life to the fullest as Jesus described in John 10:10, Jesus should be that center point: the point that influences everything else in our lives.
We looked at the benefits of Jesus being the center point of our time, our finances, our goals and dreams, and even specific relationships. This past Sunday we looked at another specific relationship.
Out of all the relationship combinations that exist, there's one that stands above the rest - one that's more complex, more complicated, more challenging while at the same time more rewarding, more satisfying and more meaningful than any other - and it's second only to our personal relationship with our creator.
I am referring to the union of a man and a woman in marriage.
And yet the marriage relationship and our personal relationship with our creator are so tightly knit together that one is hard to understand and enjoy without the other.
In fact here is how Paul described the two:
This is a profound mystery [speaking of marriage] – but I am speaking of Christ and the church. (Ephesians 5:32)
In other words marriage is understood and enjoyed best in the context of understanding Christ's relationship with us!
